The Lakeshore Foundation is an organization that makes physical activity possible for people with limited mobility. Staffed by experienced teams of rehabilitation professionals, Lakeshore offers a supportive environment for people with disabilities to adopt active lifestyles through recreational and competitive sports.
Some of the competitive team sports available at Lakeshore are power soccer, wheelchair basketball, and wheelchair rugby. In power soccer, athletes use power wheelchairs to play indoor soccer. The sport is sanctioned by the United States Power Soccer Association.
Wheelchair basketball is open to persons with lower-body impairment. It is sanctioned by the National Wheelchair Basketball Association. Wheelchair rugby, for its part, is sanctioned by the US Quad Rugby Association. In all three sports, athletes train weekly and attend regional and national tournaments. Lakeshore has a long history of athletic success, winning a dozen national championships.
